Show RECEIVERS Big Play Producers - Our trio of pass receivers are the big play type players on each of their respective squads. These were the guys that were called on when the big catch had to be made on third and long. TIGHT END was no real problem in the selection process as Kevin Smith of Viewmont was a standout at the position. On the year Kevin came up with 23 receptions but it will be the night he had against Woods Cross that will remain in many fans' memories. On that night Kevin only hauled in three passes, but he totaled 1 18 yards and three touchdowns for the night. At 6'2" the college scouts feel they can put some beef on this walking pair of hands and many of them are currently talking to Kevin about continuing his playing days next fall. Although known for his catching abilities his coaches also feel he is a good blocker. AT ONE wide spot is Woods Cross senior Troy Cullimore who made 15 receptions on the year. His big moment came in the region battle with East in which he hauled in a pass with less than a minute to play and outran the defense to give the Cats a tie. For those receptions Troy picked up 214 yards and three touchdowns, so he made the most of every catch he made. Many defensive backs in the league pointed to the quickness of Troy as his main asset and because of that they noted he was probably one of the toughest receivers to cover. Troy also spent time as a defensive back for the Cats, where he was also a standout player. -3 JAMIE Vigil of Layton stood out in '82 as one of the fine receivers in the league. The Lancer senior ended the season with over 30 catches, but many of them coming in very critical cri-tical situations when Layton needed him most. His quarterback was Brad Merrill, our ' choice as the second team QB. VIGIL MAY not have the flashy footwork or the speed of a Kurt Mathews, but Jamie always ended up where he was supposed to be to snag passes from Merrill.
