HOINORED BY ELKS Four high school students from south Davis County have been selected '"Students of the Month" by Bountiful Elks Lodge 2442. Students are chosen by the studentbody of each school. STUDENTS of the Month for February are Mark R. Law, Viewmont High; Stacy Lee Sappenfield, liountiful High; Joanne Davenport, Davis High; and Cyn'ihia Ann Kolts, Woods Cross .'High. Mark is a senior at Viewmont View-mont High School. He lives with his parents. Mark and Lynette Leishman of Bountiful. Boun-tiful. AT VIEVfMONT High School, Maris has been very active in school athletics, having hav-ing been on the varsity football, foot-ball, basketball and track teams. Heis athreeyearletter-man athreeyearletter-man in varsit y footoall and was named to the : Davis All-County second team. Mark is a good student with a 3.86 GPA. He has been a member of t he National Honor Society for two years and is a National Merit semi-finalist from Viewmont High School. He is a member of the student senate, is the Letterman's Club vice president and the senior clas s vice president. MARK I ists his hobbies as camping, hunting, waters-kiing. waters-kiing. all s ports and traveling. Stacy is a senior at Bountiful High Sche o! and lives with her parents. She has been treasurer of the FBLA ar id is currently the vice presiden t of the organization. Stacy has been secretary, counselor and currently is president of her young women's organization. She was the committee chairperson chair-person of the Bountiful East Stake Youth Conference in 1982 and continues as a committee com-mittee member of the Bounti-ful Bounti-ful East Stake Young Women's Conference. STACY'S hobbies are handmade hand-made crafts, water and snow skiing, swimming, hiking and working with small children. Joanne is a senior at Davis High School. Her parents are Arthur and Dolores Davenport of Kaysville. JOANNE has been junior high studentbody vice president, presi-dent, was a freshman representative repre-sentative of the Davis Athletics Athle-tics Association, a member of the Foreign Language Club and was captain of the freshman fresh-man basketball team. As a sophomore Joanne earned varsity letters in volleyball vol-leyball and track and placed in the state track meet in thejave-lin. thejave-lin. She continued as a member of the Foreign Language Club and as a member of the Davis Athletics Association. She was a student of the Humanities Humani-ties Department and served with the children's anthology staff. EQUALLY busy as a junior and senior, she w as a finalist in the Cora T. Hayward and Lucille Reading Essay Contests. Con-tests. She was a member of the Junior Class Committee, DECA and the Davis Athletics Association. This year Joanne is the treasurer of the cheerleading squad and she was the Girls State Representative from Davis High School where she was elected as both a county and a state delegate. She has been on the high honor roll all four years with a 3.9 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society. HOBBIES include horseback horse-back riding, volleyball, tennis, painting, singing, skiing and hiking. Cynthia is a senior at Woods Cross High School She resides with her parents Robert W. and Gloria W. Kolts in Bountiful. Boun-tiful. AT WOODS Cross, Cynthia is the studentbody first vice president, president of the school senate, president of the Woods Cross Chapter of the National Forensics League, and a member of the Council of the Woods Cross International Tehspian Society. She is a member of the Speech-Drama Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, -Madrigal Choir and the Senior Class Committee. CYNTHIA entered the Elks National Foundation "Most Valuable Student contest" and won second place from Woods Cross High School. Cynthia plays the piano, sings, and writes poetry as hobbies. During the summer of 1982 she worked as a volunteer at the LDS Hospital. |
