Show Vehicles Ok'd For Deputies FARMINGTON - The Davis County Sheriff s Department De-partment has been given the okay by the County Commission Commis-sion to purchase six vehicles. THE COMMISSION also authorized Sheriff Brant Johnson John-son to forgo the usual bidding process in the purchase of the vehicles. By side-stepping the bidding process, Sheriff Johnson explained ex-plained the price of the vehicles vehi-cles could be negotiated with dealer and consequently save the county money. THE NEGOTIATION process pro-cess has been successfully used by other police departments, depart-ments, indicated Sheriff Johnson. John-son. The county attorney said the process is legal. The six vehicles to be purchased purch-ased by the Sheriff s department depart-ment are not regular patrol cars. The cars will be used by plain clothes detectives and will not need the usual police package needed for patrol cars.
