Show Rodeo Stock Coming Here Sunday The first of the week, Jack Dew's rodeo stock, to be used at the Rodeo on Strawberry day, will be moved from their pasture at the foot of the West Mountain, and trailed around the lake to a pasture at Pleasant Grove. There will be about 30 bucking horses in the string; big, stout horses that will make the boys do some real riding to stay on top of them. Mr. Dew not only keeps these horses in the best of pastures, but feeds therm grain every day so . that they are in top condition. With- 1 in. the last few weeks, Mr. Dew made , a trip to Montana and while there , purchased, to add to his string, some of the best horses of the R. A. ! Richter string. Coming to Pleas-1 ant Grove will be such famous buck- : ing-horses as Yellow Fever, Booger I Red, Pride of the West, Easy Pick-ins, Pick-ins, Pioneer, and Old Faithful. The pure-bred Brahmas and the Mexican long-horn steers were shipped into this country in March, fresh from South Texas. In the United States, Brahma cattle are found principally in Texas, and were imported to cross with the native na-tive breeds to produce cattle that would be more immune to tick fever and better able to stand the excessive exces-sive heat of the southern part of the state. While the Brahmas are the sacred cattle of India, they are highly prized as bucking cattle by rodeo producers in America, The Brahmas will be used at Pleasant Grove for steer riding, and the Mexican long-homs for that most dangerous of cowboy sports bulldogging. .' Pinky Gist, world s champion cowboy clown, with his two trick mules, Mickey and Freckles, will arrive ar-rive on Monday. "Pinky" is a real attraction. He clowned at the Chicago Chi-cago World's Fair rodeo, at the Cheyenne Frontier Days and the Pendleton Round-up last year, and will be featured at those two big rd-deos rd-deos this; year. The cowboys are already beginning begin-ning to arrive, and it is expected that some of thg,best riding, bull-dogging bull-dogging and roping that has been seen in this part of the country for a long time will be given by the contestants con-testants at the rodeo at Pleasant Grove on June 11th. |
