And a Chicago developer is pleased that the council has endorsed a contemporary contem-porary design for a 275-room hotel between Marsac Avenue and Swede Alley. First National Development and Realty has kept its negotiation schedule with the Park City Redevelopment Agency (RDA). On Sept. 12, preliminary architectural drawings and mock-ups were presented to the council, which sits as the RDA boarct'The board gave its approval and asked the firm to develop working drawings of the proposed hotel. ,.... While specifics are nofyet known, the hotel is expected to be about 235,000 square feet about three times the size of the Main Street Marketplace Mall. The project's architect, ""' Wally Lawrence, said the developer is asking ask-ing for 8,000 square feet of support commercial space as well as 19,000 square feet for lounges and restaurants. The hotel is expected to have convention con-vention and conference facilities, said Lawrence. Presently, the size of such facilities has not been determined, deter-mined, he said. He noted, however, the proposal calls for a large-capacity large-capacity ballroom. The $55 million project would include in-clude a health club for guest use only. on-ly. If an agreement is finalized, the RDA would sell the parcel just north of the Marsac Municipal Building to First National in exchange for the construction of 200 parking spaces to be located ajacent to the hotel. Additionally, Addi-tionally, the developer would provide pro-vide an additional 200 parking spaces for use by hotel patrons. In about three months, the development firm will bring back more specific plans to the RDA. At that time, an option agreement may be signed. |
