Show " by Teri Comes And the answer is. . . It's different for everyone I know. But every once in a while I come upon questions with no clear answers. Some questions are perhaps destined not to be answered; but others... well, their at least worth pondering. For example, why does nearly everyone I know get lousy reception on Channel 2, and why can't we do something about it? The cable people have tried to tell me it is a problem with my own television, which I would believe except that the television repairman says there is a problem with the cable. And besides all that, most people who live in the Meadows, Thaynes and even Prospector seem to have the same complaint. When driving along in her car, listening to the radio, does gospel crossover singer Amy Grant try to sing along and sound like Tina Turner? Not one of the more burning questions of the day but didn't you ever wonder about that? . The level of ball playing at the junior varsity games seems every bit as intensive as the varsity games, so why, oh why, isn't there an ambulance and doctor on the field for the junior varsity games like there is for the varsity? And as long as we're on the subject of the high school, is there a satire class taught at the school? if not, wouldn't last week's Letters to the Editor show there is need for such a class? : . : ' This is a question I fight about with my Salt Lake employers em-ployers about once a month. . .why must we receive the state edition of the Salt Lake Tribune and not the city edition? While there may be a handful of individuals genuinely interested in feature stories from Logan, Tooele and St. George, it seems to me most Park City folks are more directly concerned with what is taking place in the heart of SaltLake. Why is it every time I go to Alpha Beta I get the cart with the gimpy wheels? Are all the carts now equipped with gimpy wheels or is my luck just so consistent that I always find that cart out of the hundreds there? About once a year I ask this same question, but now it seems more relevant than before. . .why can't we turn Main Street into a pedestrian mall? With the new Town Lift being installed for this ski season and a trolley car ready to roll around November, wouldn't it just make a lot of sense to park everybody in Swede Alley and allow folks to stroll up and down the street? Have you ever wondered who uses those automatic teller cash machines at midnight on Saturdays and Sunday and why? Come on, you've driven past after a late night on the town and seen a car pulled in and someone getting cash and you wondered why, didn't you? Or are these just insomniacs who are checking their balances so they can go home and balance their checkbooks. Minor question here that I keep meaning to ask Debbi Fields: Why don't any Mrs. Fields stores I've ever been in either here or in California serve tea?Ihave never learned to drink coffee and I really can't stomach milk and a soothing cup of, say, jasmine or peppermint tea would taste just perfect with those semisweet cookies with nuts I crave often. What do you say, Debbi? ; Why is it writers' . who produce weekly columns (sometimes more Weakly than others) invariably have a hard time wrapping , up loos? ends and ending it? It strikes a vein with me this is a good example of that problem. , - , - ' . OK, one final question. ... .with the primary just over two weeks away, why is the campaigning around town so subtle? We have .four people running for mayor and 13 running for city council. Can you name them all? Do you know what makes them different from one another? Do you know who you wiH vote for and why? Come on, candidates, get visible! : ; . ; ; , 1 ' ! ; ' J' 1 ' -V ' - ' . ' 'i " ' |
