Also a word of appreciation to our young pastor Mark Heiss, a good and decent man, for his love and caring for the children, their parents and all those in need. Finally, a word of appreciation to those parents not part "of an organized church, who provide a wholesome home environment for their children. My wife and I feel that if our suggestion is followed in Park City and throughout the country by the media, "the people's right to know" would be greatly expanded beyond the reporting of murders, dishonest public officials and other type sordid and sensational stories. Branded Editor: I don't know if I'm angry or disappointed! But as I read the Voter Guide in last week's issue of the Park Record, I was incensed enough to : write you. How can any candidate have a fair chance in this election if he is immediately branded by an arbitrary and capricious headline from the Park Record! Not only did you edit mercilessly each interview,- you arbitrarily pulled a statement from each article and used it for a headline, as though it was the sole platform for each candidate. (It almost appears as though you were looking for variety in layout so that readers would be attracted). I'm impressed that Park City has enough energy to muster up so many candidates. I'm discouraged that you can shoot them down as fast as they appear. It is my hope that you will take the time to treat the Voter Guide as a fair and honest forum for the candidates rather than an editorial section for the Park Record staff. Unfortunately, it's probably too late, as brands are difficult to remove. race received certainly contributed to the success of this event. The Park Record was instrumental in our large turnout by almost "pulling the paper off the press" Wednesday evening to reflect the change in our objective from the roof of the Park City Community Church building to Brent's operation.' And KPCW once again came through as it consistent- '" ry relayed interviews concerning '' Brent's situation and informing the community about the race walk to be held in his behalf. The Salt Lake Tribune and Channel 2 News also helped by giving advance publicity on Friday. The race walk was only the beginning begin-ning of a series of fund-raising events to take place before Brent's operation. In the few weeks ahead, we have a strong commitment to fulfill to help Brent in his fight for life. I feel we can meet that commitment commit-ment because we all care about Brent Bloomenthal. His situation puts our own lives into perspective and makes us care more about each other. Thank you. Marian Crosby owner director, Bodi Fit Inc. Tom Ryder Sun City, Ariz. Walking for Brent Editor: I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all those who helped and participated in the Park City Race Walk last Saturday to help raise funds for 5-year-old Brent Bloomenthal's cancer operation. The turnout , was heavy and the amount of money raised was around $2,000. This could not have been possible without the efforts of so many people. First, and most important, my appreciation ap-preciation and thanks to my two helpmates, Phil Thompson and Ann MacQuoid. Without your background knowledge and expertise, exper-tise, we would still be at square one. Working with both of you has been a real pleasure and experience. Thank you for doing what needed to be done and far beyond that. A big thank you to the sponsors who donated the prizes Western Airlines; Jans Mountain Outfitters; Cole Sport Ltd. ; Bodi Fit Inc. ; Rugged Rugg-ed Elegance; Park Meadows Country Coun-try Club; The Sun Room; The Cookie Bear; the Park City Emergency Center; Park City Performances; the U.S. Ski Team; and Kindersport . . . to Sneakers and Big Four Distributing for the post-race refreshments.. .to Bill Mammen for the long night he spent on the artwork on the T-shirts.. .to Jans and Industrial Supply Corp. for underwriting under-writing the cost of the shirts...to Gary Cole for setting up the Roller-Blades Roller-Blades exhibition race prior to the race walk. . .to Bonnie Park, for being there to handle all the minute details, for providing us with the tables, street blockades and signs. And to Pastor Mark Heiss and the people of the Park City Community Church, you were great the way you all pitched in; to (principal) Linda Singer, who sent a flier home with every child from Parley's Park Elementary School; to the volunteers who helped set the course, register the participants and walk in the race. Thank you so much for being there and for the support you gave. The last-minute media blitz the Annoyed, Amanda Peterson Time for the children Editor: My wife and I have just returned from services at the Park City Community Church. This is our place of worship during the summer months in this beautiful community. Back home we do not have the opportunity to enjoy the company of young folks and little children. As we listened to our pastor Mark Heiss conduct his weekly children's sermon ser-mon today, and indeed over the past several months, we came to the realization that our country will be in excellent hands long after we have left this earth. As Mark sat on the floor in front of the altar with the "little ones" seated around him, we could not but be impressed by the impact of his words upon them. Their spontaneous answers to his questions clearly indicated a. love of parents, grandparents and a respect for others not always apparent to people of our generation. My wife and I are certain millions of little children like these are being brought up in homes throughout our nation with the same loving care that is manifested in Park City. We think it is necessary for the media newspapers, radio and TV- to provide space and time to the little children and their parents, who are doing the right things if not the sensational things in JParkCity and throughout our land. Locally, this could begin with our Park City Community Church and on a continuing basis all the churches in Park City. A word of appreciation to the This is 'the place' Editor: To the many people of Park City who played a part in making our Vk months' stay here a truly memorable occasion: Park City Transit: It was, indeed, our pleasure to be your "guests" and to get better acquainted with this lovely city by letting you do the driving. Our hats off to the kind, courteous, and careful drivers. You do an excellent job! This especially means the lovely lady. Park City Library: What a privilege it has been these past four summers to make use of your lovely library. The selection of books is excellent and the staff most courteous and helpful. Much to our surprise and delight, you requested a certain book for us from a library in Colorado. This was much appreciated. appreci-ated. My personal thanks also for the use of the copy machine and the typewriter. Keep up the good work. We will, hopefully, see you next summer and will bring a few more books. Until then, a fond farewell. Skaggs Alpha Beta: Here's where our money went these past 11 weeks But we love to eat, and eat we did. If we were asked what we like best about your store, the result would be one enormous list. Here are a few top reasons: the excellent selection of items; the top quality meats, produce, bakery and deli products; and the genuine courtsey of all employees throughout the store. We should also mention the wide aisles, which did much to make shopping a real pleasure. Until next July, when hopefully we will again return for the summer, we can only say that we will miss you, but will look forward to Letters to A5 c Lettieirs ttn TtPncB IEdlnttapii0 Letters from A3 resuming the privileges of your store and all that it has to offer. Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Luther-an Church: Because my stay in Park City would not be complete without a "church home," I felt it a delight and a privilege to attend your church. Pastor Krueger not only presented very inspirational sermons each Sunday (no more vacations in the summer, please) but he, as well as many of the members, made all visitors feel most welcome. God bless all of you and my husband and I look forward to the summer of 1986 in Park City. Snow Flower Condominiums: To you who each summer play host to many of us from Sun City, what can we say?! This year we extended our stay by two weeks, and had the opportunity to watch the color on the mountains as it made its debut, and then burst into one beautiful riot of shades of red. And how about that touch of snowl We leave with reluctance, and look forward with anticipation to returning next summer. sum-mer. Please know how grateful we are for the many kindnesses extended to us these past 11 weeks. This is truly "The Place" and you are "The Greatest." Hope to see some of you in Sun City this "winter." Bennett former city council member Prompt action Editor: Recently we approached Police Chief Frank Bell and Public Works Director Jerry Gibbs about the traffic problem developing on our street. Both men met with us to discuss the above problem. They explained to us why the one solution we were requesting was not possible at this time and then helped us to find an immediate solution to try before taking more serious and more costly measures. We agreed that this plan should be implemented within two weeks. Sure enough, their promises were kept and new street signs appeared on our street corners last week. We appreciate this kind of interaction and problem-solving between bet-ween taxpayers and our city officials. It is reassuring to know that our voices can be heard. Thank you Frank and Jerry for your help, concern and follow-through. follow-through. Debbie Reid Sarah Klingenstein Letters Policy The, Park'. Sage difference Editor: Although I'd love to maintain that your "typo" in last week's candidate interview was accurate, I'm afraid my credibility would suffer a severe blow. For the record, and since my birthday is, in fact, today, I'm actually 42, not 32. If wisdom comes with age, then at least I can say I've acquired a 10-year jump in the sage department. May I also take this opportunity to thank the Park Record for giving the city council and mayoral candidates a forum, both last week and again this week. Certainly, this does provide readers the chance to inform themselves and to be more knowledgeable know-ledgeable voters. Sincerely, Ann MacQuoid Best man for mayor Editor: We really have some good candidates running in the Oct. 8 primary. May I tell you why I believe that Burnis Watts is the best man for mayor? 1.
