Show Psychosocial drama: community education through the arts This article was submitted by Kim Lindgren of the Park City Prevention Center. Psychosocial drama (PSD) is a mental health education tool developed by the Institute for Human Awareness, Columbus, Ohio, and has received national commendation. PSD employs drama satire, music, graphic arts and dance to creatively make an impact upon audiences. Through these mediums, everyday situations are presented in a way to help audiences experience insight into their attitudes and behavior. Park City's first psychosocial drama troupe is in its early beginnings. The troupe will consist of 5 to 10 members who will use PSD to address such important topics as family communication, substance sub-stance abuse and prevention, corporate staff relations, stress, spouse and child abuse, depression, health care education and many others. Any person, aged 12-99 years, who is interested in participating with the troupe, should call Kim Lindgren between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 649-8347 by Feb. 15. You need not have experience in the arts, only an interest in human awareness issues. |
