Show Cable is coming to Summit Park by Jeffrey Hunt Summit Park and Timber-line Timber-line residents may be able to enjoy cable TV as early as July, but they're going to have to pay a little extra for it. Telecommunications Inc., which currently provides cable to Park City and Jeremy Ranch, will begin digging a line from Jeremy Ranch to Timberline and Summit Park starting May 1 , John Lanning, general manager, said. "We'll get started as soon as digging is possible," Lanning Lan-ning said. He estimated a July 1 completion date. Because of the area's steep and rugged terrain and the necessity to lay most of the cable underground, the cost for the project will be high $120,000 to $140,000, Lanning said. This cost will be passed on to subscribers through higher installation fees which will run about $50 per subscriber about twice the normal cost Lanning said. The subscription rate will be $11.95 per month for basic cable service, he said. Also contributing to the high cost is the relatively small number of homes which will be serviced, Lanning said. The cable line will be strung along utility poles where possible to cut costs, he said. Telecommunications owns the SumiYiit County cable franchise and currently has about 120,000 Utah subscribers, sub-scribers, Lanning said. |
