Show Girls' basketball team trampled by Dugway by Randy llanskat In a scene which would have made Secretariat proud, the Dugway Mustangs girls' basketball team thoroughly trampled the Park City Miners 77-30 Thursday night in Miner Gym. Miner Coach Bob Burns attributed much of the loss to intimidation. He said the Mustangs used the full court press, and that shook up the home team, forcing numerous numer-ous turnovers. At the half Dugway was leading 40-18. Miner Center Sheila Hannay had nine points at the half to lead her team. But in the second half Hannay could only muster four additional points, missing miss-ing much of the half after her eye was poked. The loss of Hannay, who is the most consistent scorer for the Miners, doomed Park City. Sadi Naki was the second high Miner scorer in the game with nine points. Dugway, on the other hand, had two players over 20 points. They were much tougher under the boards than was Park City. And they shot better, and more often. The Miners would not take their opportunities when the Mustangs presented them. Many times Miner shooters were open, but instead of putting the ball up they would pass it off. The loss was the sixth without a win for Park City. The team will end up its season Thursday night against North Summit in Miner Gym. |
