Show Park City Library expands its collection for kids In addition to a weekly story hour in the children's room, the Park City Library now has stories-to-go on cassette tapes. The collection includes fairy tales, songs and nursery rhymes which can be checked out to enjoy at home. The librarians have also been busy expanding the children's book collection. New picture book purchases include "Anno's Counting Book," "Bruno Munari's ABC Book," "Dawn," "It looked Like Spilt Milk," and "Ask Mr. Bear." Elementary school children child-ren might be interested in the following new non-fiction acquisitions: "How to do a Science Project," "life With Working Parents," "Make Your Own Robots," "Quasars, Pulsars and Black Holes in Space," and "The Little House Cookbook." Some of the new fiction titles available at the library include "The Grizzly" by Annabel and Edgar Johnson and "The Cay" by Theodore Taylor. "Grizzly" is about an eleven-year-old boy and his dad who end up facing a grizzly bear on a weekend fishing trip and "The Cay" is about a young boy marooned on an island in the West Indies. "The Active Enzyme Lemon-Freshened Junior High School Witch" by E.W. Hildick follows the adventures adven-tures of two rival witches and "My Father's Dragon" by Ruth Stiles Gannett is an interesting turnabout tale concerning a boy who rescues a dragon. Other new and recommended recom-mended books are "A Toad for Tuesday" by Russell Erickson, "The Bloody Country" by James Collier, "Wings and Roots" by Susan Terris and "Dawn of Fear" by Susan Cooper. Two more new books help school age youngsters deal with personal problems. "Dear Lovely Heart, I am Desperate" by Ellen Contord and "The Pig Out Blues" by Jan Greenberg both try to teach some lessons while entertaining young readers. |
