Show Distinguished Teaching Award winners to be announced The recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Awards will be announced at a special meeting of the Board of Education Tuesday night. One teacher at each of the district's three schools has been selected to receive a $750 cash award. This is the first year the awards have been offered. They were made possible by a contribution of $2,250 to the school district by Park City resident David Dunn. Dunn is one of three general partners in the venture ven-ture capital firm Idanta Partners, Par-tners, based in LaJolla. California and Park City. Since moving to Park City last year, Dunn has made several contributions to the school district including funds for the voted leeway campaign cam-paign and an Apple computer com-puter for the elementary school. Nominations were based on excellence in teaching and overall contribution to the schools with an emphasis on communication with the students. At the high school, nominations were submitted by the student council, the community council and the principal and then voted on by the faculty. The Treasure Mountain Middle School faculty elected its Distinguished Teacher from staff nominations. The elementary school received nominations from the principal, prin-cipal, staff and community council which were then submitted to the faculty for a vote. Principals Jack Dozier, Brian Schiller and Linda Singer will announce their schools' selections Tuesday night. |
