Show Jenkins named acting health board chief Summit County Sanitarian Steve Jenkins has been named acting county health director by the Summit County Health Board. The decision came after an executive session during the May 16 meeting. Although the position is temporary, Jenkins told the Record he will apply for the permanent job. "Your opportunities op-portunities sometimes are few and far between," he explained. He said the board apparently ap-parently wanted an acting director whose operating base is in the Summit County Courthouse: "Teresa (Nelson) (Nel-son) and Michelle (Ludlow) are just as qualified," he said. Neisuii is director of the Park City Prevention Center and Ludlow is nurse-practitioner nurse-practitioner for the health department. A health board member said Jenkins has done an exemplary job and knows the county well. The member added the county has not started to recruit applicants for the directorship as yet. Jenkins said he hoped the permanent director would be named by November before the department's budget has to be finalized for the coming year. Jenkins will assume his duties effective June 30. He succeeds Frank Singleton who was asked to resign by the Health Board. |
