Show Seven local skiers asked to U.S.S.T. training camps Seven members of the Park City Ski Team have been invited to summer training camps sponsored by the U.S. Ski Team. According to Bob Harkins, assistant alpine director for the U.S. Ski Team, the seven have been asked to attend at-tend camps to be held in June and July at Mt. Bachelor and Mt. Hood, Oregon. At the JI (16- and 17-year-old) level, invitations have been extended to about 32 skiers nationwide, including Park City's Tori Pillinger and Jason Lawson. Harkins said the entire alpine coaching staff is expected to participate par-ticipate in the JI training camps. At the JIII (12- and 13-year-old) level, invitations went out to about 40 skiers across the country, including in-cluding five from Park City. "Park City has definitely got a strong representation, represen-tation, especially among the JIII skiers," Harkins said. The Park City five are Stephanie Palmer, Jacob Doilney, Bret Johnson, Jeremy Nobis and Tyler Tebbs. This group is scheduled to leave for Oregon July 9 and return July 21. Harkins said the JIIIs would be coached by some members of the national alpine staff with assistance from others. "The Park City program has done a hell of a job," he said. "I think they deserve a lot of recognition for that." |
