Show Marsac remodeling nears completion The Marsac Building was originally purchased from the , Park City School District in ' February of 1982 for $1.32 million by the Park City Redevelopment Agency. The RDA then sold the structure to the Park City Housing Authority which borrowed the remodeling funds from Silver King Bank along with $1 million to purchase the building. i The municipality is now leasing the building from the . Housing Authority at j $223,000 a year, which meets the debt service on the $1.5 million loan, according to City Attorney Tom Clyde. by Christopher Smart The awning over the main entrance isn't quite installed, construction rubble is still lying around downstairs and the signs over the west entrance still say Marsac School. But the $500,000 remodeling job on the city's administration building is almost complete. Community Development Director Mike Vance said the refurbishing job that began Nov. 1 will be finished sometime in June. Among its new features, the Marsac Municipal Building will have new City Council chambers on its bottom floor, which will hold at least 100 people and double as me nun Circuit Courtroom, Vance said. The bottom floor will also include offices for the judge, a jury room and consultation room as well as house the KPCW radio studios. The middle floor of the Marsac Building is now comprised of the Police, Building and Finance Departments. De-partments. The new Park City dispatch and a reception area will be located at the south entrance on the middle floor. The mayor's office as well as those of the city manager and city attorney are now located on the top floor. The community development oi nee anu ine nanning Department are also located upstairs now. Vance said the building required no structural revamping re-vamping other than moving interior walls and lowering ceilings. The frame of the building is made of steel I beams and is very solid, he said. Additional modifications include a new retaining wall on Marsac Avenue and new stairs and a ramp for the handicapped at the south entrance, he said. The restrooms have all been remodeled and a new sprinkling sprink-ling system installed in the building. |
