Show Women's Golf Association welcomes duffers too Many local hackers say that the Women's Golf Association is just for those of superior golfing ability. To that, Doug Vilven of the p.C. Municipal Golf Course says a rousing "balderdash." "balder-dash." The ladies' association is for everyone, from beginners all thye way to Nancy Lopez, he said.. All a lady needs to join is a basic knowledge of golf, he said. For beginners, that knowledge can be gained by attending the golf course's beginner's group which costs $35 for six lessons. Then a lady should be able to step right into the Women's Golf Association, Vilven said. There are two groups within the association, the nine-hole group and the 18-hole 18-hole group. He said the nine-hole nine-hole group attracts two types of women: ladies with a lower skill level and ladies who don't hae the time to play 18 holes. The 18-hole group is generally made up of better golfers, but Vilven added that ladies still don't have to be that good to play in the 18-hole group. "Golf is just like skiing at first; it scares you until you jump into it," he said. He added that the Women's Golf Association seems more official of-ficial than it really is. "Basically everyone is out just to have a good time." It costs $20 to joint the Women's Golf Association. Those interested should call or stop by the pro shop at the Park City Golf Course. |
