A quiet wedding was solemnized at the Methodist parsonafie Tuesday evening, eve-ning, Rev. Christian R Garver officiating. officiat-ing. The contracting parties were Mr. A. B. Harrison and Miss Gladys I. Chamberlain of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Wilson of this city accompanied the bride and croom at the ceremony and the little party partook qf a sumptuous dinner later m the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson entertained Mr. and Mrs. Harrison at luncheon at their home on Wednesday. The bridal couple left for their future home in Salt Lake City Wednesday evening. Mr. Harrison is a salesman for the T'tah-Idaho Motor company in Sale Lake. CHARLES RHINE MARRIED IN DENVER. A pretty wedding of interest to Og-denites Og-denites was the marriage of Miss Irene Williams .of Golden, Colo., and Charles Rhine of Ogden. at Denver, on December 22, Rev. Charles Mead of i he Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. and Mrs Rhine will be at home at 2532 Fowler avenue in Ogden, for a short time before making their home in Evanston, Wyo. Sixty-five members of the Chtld Culture Cul-ture club and friends were present at the meeting of the club at th Berthana last Thursday afternoon when Mrs. Charles H Wilson and Mrs. E S. Hinckley were hostesses. The meeting was one of the most en-tertaining en-tertaining and Instructive ever held by the club The most Interesting feature was the splendid address on "Woman in Civic Bettermen" given by Reverend John Edward Carver of tho First Presbyterian church of this city. Reverend Carver brought out impressively impress-ively the power of woman in every re-lorm re-lorm movement and the urgent need of feminine assistance in all civic mat ters. After the address the following fol-lowing ladies and others, led by Mm William Wright, entered info discus-sion discus-sion of tho subject Mesdames S. S. Smith. Georcina Marriott, Mary E. Drake, Charles H. Wilson and Mrs. Ray. later a delightful musical pro gram was carried out. vocal solos being be-ing given by Miss Marion Browning. The Lillian Thatcher orchestra furnished a delightful de-lightful program of musical numbers Mrs Ralph E. Hoag was hostess to i sixteen guests at dinner. The tables were prettily decorated by Mrs M. S. Browning and Messrs. Sam Powell and I Rinehart Gideon, Jr., were hosts to I four guests. At a beautifully deco rated table Mrs Ralph E. Bristol presided pre-sided as hostess and twelve guestfl were seated The table was artistically artistical-ly decorated with tiny boats at each guest's place indicative of Mrs. Bristol's Bris-tol's coming departure for Honolulu. Altogether the dinner-dance last evening eve-ning was a social success in evory way. FEDERATED W. C T. U MEETS The most Interesting meeting that has been held by the Federated W. C. T. IT. this year was held Wednesday in the Bennet block at the Grace Baptist Bap-tist church. The meeting was to have been partly part-ly a mothers' meeting, but that feature fea-ture was postponed for two weeks when if will be given by Mrs. S. S. Smith, under the auspices of the First ward W C. T. U. During the business session arrangements ar-rangements were made for the observant observ-ant nt the day of prayer ior national prohibition, January 18, with an all-I all-I day meeting The program consisted of the following follow-ing articles and prayers "Physicians Denounce Alcohol'" ... Griffin "The Value of Publicity ' Mrs. V , Way Animated discussions followed the readings and papers The fact was most clearly brought out that when any form of alcohol Is used as medicine, medi-cine, nature has to contend with both disease and the evil effects of the alcohol, al-cohol, and that the relieved feeling of the patient when alcohol Is used is due to the benumbing of the nerves, whicb only masks the symptoms without with-out curing the cause and thus gives a false and dangerous sense of se-I se-I curity. That alcohol is a narcotic and depressant de-pressant and should never be given in heart failure, collapse or where stimulants stim-ulants are needed. The hostesses. Mesdames C M. Preshaw, J. F. Lawson, Myrtle Bush-nell, Bush-nell, W. B. Crltes. and Long broke all rules and served elaborate and delicious de-licious refreshments. MARRIED TUESDAY. On Tuesday last, at the home of her parents on Grammercy avenue, Miss Anna Virginia Cooley was married mar-ried to Mr. John K. de Courcey Evans of Butte. Montana. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Wheelwright in the presenee of the immediate family. Mr, and Mrs Evans departed on the afternoon train for Butte, where they will make their home.
