Show VALUABLE MFDALS FOR THE POULTRY EXHIBITS Wilford L. Bramwell, secretary and treasurer of the Utah branch of the 1 American Poultry association today received the six valuable medals to! be awarded to prize winners in the I Ogden poultry Bhow, January 22-28 One of the medals, a beautiful crea-tion crea-tion of the jeweler's art, in gold, sus-1 pended on a black ribbon, with a gold chain and safety clasp, is to be awarded award-ed to the grand champion cockerel. Engraved upon the medal are the heads of two roosters, one turkey and I one duck, the turkey head, typical of the national bird, having the place of honor, at the top The center of rhe medal, inlaid in ivory and gold, is the shield of the Republic with a flour de lis, the whole design being the official of-ficial emblem of the American Poultry Poul-try association. The five silver medals are of the .line design, suspended from a pur-1 pie ribbon with the word "Special ' In gold. TheBe trophies will be awhrd-ed awhrd-ed (o the best male in each variety.! Besides, there will be other awards by 'he association. Mr. Bramwell, J H. Shafer and i other Ogden poulterers today shipped select specimens of their poultry to Boise, to compete in the Idaho poultry Show, beginning next Monday. Mr. Bramwell's entries were single comb Rhode Island Reds, which he regards ' as the best chickens, everything con-J sidered. Mr. Bramwell said the importance! of the coming poultry show could hardly be over-estimated Its results will be made known to hundreds of thousands of poult n breeders, who will thus be Interested in Ogden and Utah. The association, being financially powerful and with enormous influenco and prestige, hereafter will assist poultry poul-try breeders of this section in every way possible, helping to obtain better express and railroad service and low- i er rates. The A. P. A. also will provido a i poultry text-book to be used in the l tab schools and contribute In every practicable way in poultry education and Investigation. It will assist prac-tically prac-tically in establishing a standard for : market eggs and poultrv, thus developing devel-oping this bnmch of the industry. The winning of either of the six medals, above described, will pay for a life membership in the A. P.
