Show ROCK ISLAND SUITJO END Offer of Settlement to Be Pre-sented Pre-sented U. S. District Judge for Approval. Chicago, Jan. 6. Prospects of a speedy settlement of the Amster committee com-mittee suit for $7,500.0000 against the directors of the Chicago. Rock Island and Pacific railway were soen today in the announcement that two of the directors, Daniel G. Reid and William H. Moore, would offer to purchase at par $5,000,000 worth of the road's preferred pre-ferred stock. It was reported that the offer of the settlement would be presented to Judge George A. Carpenter of the United States district court next Tues-day Tues-day for approval, the road being in the hands of a receiver appointed by him and It .was declared that the two directors had assumed all the obligations obliga-tions of the board. The 6 per cent stock has been quoted at 73 and the purchase at pur would involve a loss of $.1,250,000 in addition to which the report said the two would pay 5500.000 and costs aggregating ag-gregating $25U.000 making a total of $2,000,000. Jacob If, Dickinson, receiver of the road, said today that he had not been advised of the reported plan of settlement. |
