Show k ' 1 jjjji 1 II "Strangler" Lewis who is to meet Pete Visser. I With his scheduled appearance at E the local Orpheum theatre just nine Hf days distant, the above cut of "Strang- 1 ler" Joe Lewis was received today by H Manager Joseph Goss of the Orpheum H from Frank Schuler, the promoter B who staged the recent Lewis-Santel H bout in San Francisco. This is first B evidence that the Kentucky grappler 1 i is closing his plans to forsake the B ocean breezes for the intermountain B Bnows and thai the Ogden fans may B I expect to see him blow into town by H j the end of the week. H J There is some probability that the B forthcoming bout will be staged as B was Lewis' latest affair with Santel, H j with a time limit and a decision on Hi points. The time limit, of course, is Hj an advantage to the lighter man, as H weight, when coupled with ordinary Hj skill, is a big factor in a long drawn H out match, such as are oftimes staged B under the old-time finish match rules. H It is also better for the fans, as the K wrestlers are bound to work fast and Br hard to obtain the margin of points jf For these reasons, Visser will prob- H: ably make an effort to get Lewi, to ij agree on a two or two and one-half H hour limit, and If this is done the H Kentuckian Is due for a big surprise, M j as the word "stall ' is not in the former for-mer Ogden fireman's wrestling vocab- B Lewis stands wiih Joe Ttecher and probably one or two others as the real ' big fellows of the game, weighing 228 pounds in wrestling condition, and his appearance here will be the first time a wrestler of his calibre has been seen in the city. |
