Show SENTENCED 15 DAYS IN MIL Pleading guilty to the charge of disturbing dis-turbing the peace by accosting a young lady on Twenty-fifth street with whom he was not acquainted, Ted Barnes was sentenced In police court this morning to serve one hundred and fifty days on the rock pile. Ted Barnes Is a bartondcr and was arrested last night by Officer Carl Lamson, who testified against him. On the complaint, Barnes was charged charg-ed with disturbing the peace and he pleaded guilty to this charge The of fleer stated that the defendant had approached a woman on the street, near the European hotel, touching her upon the arm and speaking to her A few moments later when the officer had attempted to arreBt the fellow for his action he forcibly resisted the arrest. ar-rest. Barnes having pleaded guilty to the charge was not given an opportunity to deny the story of the arresting officer, of-ficer, although he protested against being held to silence. The woman was not brought into court to testify against Barnes. In Imposing sentence, the Judge stated that he would show no favoritism favorit-ism In such cases and that he would pass the samo sentence upon Barnes that he had Imposed upon the Greek prisoner Thursday. No monetary fine was Imposed as an alternate of tho jail sentence. Whpn Barnes was arrested his bond was fixed at $100, the money being secured by the prisoner within a few minutes. Barnes has a number of friends and It is exnected that the case will be appealed. |
