Show M MAJOR BREEDEN'S APPOINTMENT. H Major M. A. Breeden, former rosident of Ogden, has been of- H tfered the position of attorney' general of Porto Rico by President H Taft, at the suggestion of Senator Reed Smoot. H I The Ogden friends of Mr. Breedcu will rejoice over his new H honors. H j The major's life has been along easy lines. lie has been a Ro- publican, in season and out of season, and his devotion to party has won him political distinction. "When the Bryan wave swept- over H Utah and left the regular Republican party in a shattered condi- H tion, Major Brecdcn remained true to his allegiance. Then came the handing out of rewards for faithfulness and Mr. Breeden was made attorney general of Utah. SLater ho was secretary of the Hl Juvenile court commission. Then he moved to California where he Hl now resides. Again he is asked to accept a political office, this time H at a salary of $4,000 a year. H Major Breeden must have been born at a time when the stars H foretold a life with the forces of naturo laboring to clear away all inharmonious influences. |
