Show 'leaders in' RELIGIOUS The religious leaders on route, arrived ar-rived In 0'den on time jesterday and wero met by a delegation at the depot and conducted to the First Presby-I Presby-I terian church where-a good sized aud'l-ence aud'l-ence awaited them. The attendance I was a representative one, the leading Sunday School workers of the various churches being present, besides many others. The song service was led by S. II. Meyer, a business man of Chica'go who has made Sunday School and song leading a favorite line or special activity. ac-tivity. Mr Meyer is well adapted for Just this kind of song leadership and under un-der his direction the entire audience became a largo choir. Old and new songs wore sung with rich volume and spirit. Miss Allen of Little Rock. Ark., and Mrs. W. H. DIetz of Chicago spoke upon tho work of the elementary grades In Sunday School work. Tho chief appeal of these workers was for placing the best of tho modern school methods In the Sunday School room. Graded lessons and classes, kindergarten kindergar-ten methods, using the trends which teach through tho eye as well as tho ear, were given special emphasis. Mr. C. B Hall of Chicago, who is In change of the party told of the tour. This party has In 'the past few days participated in three stnte and two county conventions. Todny they form the chief portion of tho program In the Nevada State convention which meets In Elko. This being a company of specialists In their line, they are of especial value In convention work. Other tour parties were last night holding meetings in western Canada, Oregon, Montana and Arizona In this way the west being given the benefit of the best of the east as these parties move on to the International Inter-national convention at San Francis co. Mr. Stoll of Louisville, Ky , spoke upon the adult class movement and work. He gave statistics of the progress prog-ress of the men's bible class development develop-ment and recounted somo of tho advantages ad-vantages of their work. Eight thousand thous-and men are In the average Sunday school attendance in Louisville alone. Tho work Is a social one also and these men' are turned Into practical work along lines of social reform and service. E J. Mecham gave the Inspirational Inspiration-al address of the evening. Mr Mecham Mech-am is a livo wire in this lino of speaking. speak-ing. He is enthusiasm personified. Having done wonders In his own school he Is ready to arouse others to the same line of work. Mr. W S. Brown of Averill, N Y.. found in Judge Corn an old college classmate They had not met since t'lr graduation at Princeton many j ears ago. After a rousing song service conducted con-ducted by Mr Meyer with Miss Gertrude Ger-trude E BIddle as pianist, the meeting meet-ing was closed with many expressions expres-sions of hearty gratitude for the service ser-vice and good will for those participating. parti-cipating. oo |
