Show mm RESIGNS SS 'FRISCO'S CHIEF SAN FRANCISCO, June 15. John F. Seymour ended San Francisco's two week reign of two chiefs tonight by resigning from the office of chief of police. The struggle in the courts which ended in the resignation of Seymour Sey-mour and tho installation of D A. White was marked by the resignation of three police commissioners and a bombardment of writs and Injunctions during which time tho city had an acting chief without recognition from the courts and a chief with court sanction, sanc-tion, but no power to act-Three act-Three separate sets of charges wero filed against Seymour, the main charge in each case being that he had protected gambling, and the struggle' between Seymour and Mayor McCarthy, McCar-thy, his former friend and political ally, al-ly, who launched the attack against him, was complicated by factional and political issues. White, the new chief, is a political supporter of Mayor McCarthy and an employe of the San Francisco Gas and Electric company. nn. |
