Show CJOCIETT FOR MISS ARMSTRONG. Miss Loretta Whalen entertained at a beautifully appointed luncheon at the Virginia yesterday afternoon in compliment to Miss Margaret Armstrong Arm-strong Covers were laid for thirty including includ-ing a few out-of-town guests Tho handsome lace centerpiece was graced by a large cut glass ibowl filled with pink peonies. Dainty little cuplds holding a maze of ribbon lines, hung with hearts, above the head of a lady and gentleman were the significant place cards and marking the place of the honor guest was a 'beautiful cupid and a lovely cluster of white peonies tied with white satin ribbon, while at each of the other places pink peonies peon-ies were laid. Some choice musical selections were a pleasant feature which with the perfect arrangement of each detail added to the pleasure of the occasion. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE. The ladies' Aid Society of the Central Cen-tral Park Presbyterian church gavo Mrs Fanny Wallace an officer and member of the society a pleasant surprise sur-prise last Monday afternoon at her home at 3123 Ogden avenue, In honor of her birthday anniversary. A pleasant afternoon was spent, after aft-er which refreshments of Ice cream, ca e and fruits were served. Those .present were- Miss Ella Al-hee, Al-hee, Mrs. Bower, Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Chausse, Mrs. Hickman, Mrs. Lucas Mrs. McDanlel, Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Scud-der, Scud-der, Mrs, Stoddard, Mrs. Wilson. The ladies departed wishing Mrs. Wallace many happy return's of the day. LINKS ENTERTAINED. The meeting of tho Christian Link circle, held Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Trisdale on Poplar avenue, was a very pleasant success. Quito a number of "Links" were present and officers for the position of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer were elected. A short program of instrumental music was rendered after which light refreshments refresh-ments were served by the hostess and her daughter, Hester. The next meeting of the society will bo held at the homo of Miss Weste-mier, Weste-mier, 252 Twenty-second street, on the Second Wednesday In July MRS ASTILL ENTERTAINS The tea given by the women of tho First Presbyterian church at the homo of Mrs. W S. Astill yesterday afternoon after-noon was a delightful one. Mrs. Astill proved to be a most charming hostess and her efforts were enjoyed by a large number. ENGAGEMENT. Mrs. Elizabeth Chllds announces the engagement of her daughter, Dorothy B. Chllds, to David Barker, the marriage mar-riage to take placo in the near .future. .fu-ture. Ralph M. Johnson arrived home yesterday yes-terday from Ithaca, New York, where he hns been a student at Cornell university. |
