The important development in the general shipping strike today was the concession of an advanco of $2.50 a month in wages to all employes involved by the Whlto Star company, an examplo followed later by the Holt and another line in Liverpool Tho outlook Is that tho strike will come to a speedy end. At several of the large ports no Inconvenience In-convenience because of the strike has yet been caused and nowhere has there been nny real accession to the strike movement. It is believed that the Cunard company com-pany will concede an advance similar to that granted by the White Star and Canadian Pacific, and that this course Is likely to be generally followed fol-lowed by shipowners. oo |
