The umpire in the contest was the passenger department of tho Southern Pacific compafly and the issue was whether right of way should be given the special car In which Mrs. Harrlman Harrl-man and her guests had come to the west or to a special train carrying baseball fans to Sacramento The Harrlman car was scheduled to start east by the way of Sparks at 9-40 o'clock and the Harrlman party was on board, but when the Tiour of departure drew near, It was discovered discov-ered that a baseball special was scheduled to depart at the same timo. The fans emphatically asserted that unless their cars went first they would miss the game. There was a hurried consultation between passenger passen-ger officials and traffic officials and as a result the Harrlman car was forced to wait an hour. The railroad men say that Mrs. Harrlmnn accepted the decision good-naturedly |
