Show COPS AND SPEEDER RACE AT NEPHI It doesn't pay to throw rocks in the face of Juab County's motorcycle cop. i'c happened Thursday after- noon, when Bill Laird was policing the state highway north of Nephi, ! when some well-to-rio gentleman with ' a colored schauffer at the wheel, was : clipping off at a high speed, when i the cop paced him for a short dis-' dis-' tance, and then followed him intto 1 Nephi, sounding the siren to stop at ! the court house, but instead of him , stopping, he stepped on the gas, and j the big sedan and the motorcycle had a race, with the cop coming out a good second. As. they raced over the Levan ridge, Laird got fairly close to the auto, and the driver swayed the car from one side of the road to Vhe other, causing the loose gravel to be thrown into Laird's face, so he finally decided to come back to town, and give up the chase. When he got to the court house he phoned the Fillmore officers to hold Mie owner of the car, or get $25 bail money, which the driver furnished. Times-News, Nephi. |
