Show Soy Bean Dairy Ration Recommended by Rhode A ration for dairy cows containing soy beans that Is recommended by C. S. Rhode of the Illinois Agricultural college contains GOO pounds of corn and cobmeal, 350 pounds of ground oats and 150 pounds of soy beans. This la for use when a roughage consisting con-sisting of part legume bay Is available. avail-able. When no legume Is available, change the mixture to 450 pounds of corn mid cobmeal, 300 pounds of soy beans. 150 pounds of cottonseed meal and 100 pounds of bran. With a good legume roughage fee 575 pounds of corn and cobmeal, 500 pounds of ground oats and 100 pounds of soybeans. Feed from 2 to 3 pounds of these mixtures for each gallon of milk produced pro-duced daily. Increase this amount to 3 pounds for Guernseys and Jerseys producing more than 25 pound of milk tluily. Beans must be ground when fed to dairy cows. By mixing them with corn and oats, they are not dldlcnlt to grind. When cottonseed meal Is worth $2 a hundred pounds, soy beans are worth $1.13 a bushel as a substitute. To replace re-place $2 linseed ollmeal, they are worth $1.18 a bushel and for 1.75 gluten feed, $1.21 a bushel. |
