L ...1 TWO WAYS TO HELP The Utah Farmer, in its last issue, said a "front page full" with a couple, cou-ple, of pictures and a couple of paragraphs par-agraphs under the heading;, "Two Ways to Help the Dairy Industry." One of the pictures, (for those who failed to see it, and by the way all farmers should read regularly that publication) is of a group of farmers farm-ers around a fine dairy bull, the other, a picture of a number of small boys exhibiting their dairy calves. The pictures and the inscriptions tell a vivid story, but the paragraph emphasizes em-phasizes it. "We Need More and Better Dairy Cows in Utah," it starts out. Then it continues to the effect that two ways that will help to secure them are Pure bred bull associations, cooperative ownership of good sires, and encouraging the boys by letting them own and care for a purebred calf. Both those , things should receive attention in this valley There should be more and better sires as the first step toward improving what we have in the way of dairy catle, and then there should be some calf clubs organized. or-ganized. The boys should become interested. in-terested. . We are inclined to think, too, that the importation of a few good cows and heifers by some of our farmers should be encouraged, and that it- world . give impetus and encouragement en-couragement to the industry. The Times 'thinks it would be a fine thing for the valley if our bank would aggressively encourage these things, and confidently we. expect to see it do so in the near future. Parowan Times. |
