Show LOOKING BACK Did you know ; That a hermetically sealed jar of wheatwas sent to Col. F. P. Holland of Dallas from the late John Cardwell, who was U.S. consul at Cairo, Egypt at the time. The jar of wheat is estimated to be over 4,000 years old, and just as sound as it was on the day it was flayed. 50 Years Ago Our "Scenic West" was featured by an Eastern Writer, Doug Hough in five or six stories on the Kaibab Forest and Grand Canyon. The stories appeared in about 40 daily newspapers in the East. . The Cedar baseball players, in their first game of the season, played at Pioche, were defeated at the hands of the Pioche, Nev. team. The boys expected to win the next game, played at Cedar. 25 Years Ago Dr. A. F. Rich, Optometrist, announced the opening of his new offices in the bank building in Cedar City. His new office included a reception room, a visual training clinic and a refraction room for eye testing: Dr. Rich was a graduate of the Los Angeles College of Optometry cum laude (with honor). He returned to school later to take special graduate clinical work in child care, vision aids, contact lenses etc. 10 Years Ago The Shakespearean Festival was attracting large crowds nightly. The two productions "King Lear" and "Much Ado About Nothing" was directed by Fred C.
