' : v k . i A host of events have been scheduled for the Pioneer Day celebration in Cedar City Thursday, July 24 under the direction of the Cedar Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Events of the day will begin with a parade at 9:30 a.m. from Safeway on south main street t o the Cedar City Park. Those in charge indicate that the parade "will start on time." Theme of this year's parade will be "Neighbors are Friends." Each of the wards in the city will be entering floats and it is also expected additional floats will be entered to make the event an outstanding parade. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning floats. Immediately following the parade a program will be held in the Rock Chinch on Center and 100 East. (See separate story.) Also following the parade concessions and games will be conducted at the Cedar City Park. Included will be a number of fish ponds for the younger set; the dunking pond, ball toss and dart games. Their will also be food concessions con-cessions available and the Cedar Stake will hold a bake sale at the park, those in charge indicated. All proceeds from the concessions con-cessions will be used by the Stake for improvements at the Webster's Web-ster's Girls Day camp on Cedar Mountain. That evening the Cedar City Softball Association is sponsoring spon-soring an All-Star softball game. It is an annual event and will pit the best of the nine team league in an all-star clash. Residents from throughout the area are invited to join in the celebration, which is unique to the State of Utah. |
