Q 7 tsjc-Tt, ill, pj Miss Sheri Guffey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Picket of Parowan and the late Bernard B. Guffey, became the wife of Gerald E. Serrano, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loilo C. Serrano, of Santa Hose, New Mexico, on March 11, 1978. The young couple was married in Bellflower, California, in a double ring ceremony performed by the Reverend Howard in the First United Methodist Church. Immediately following the ceremony the newlyweds were honored with a reception held at the home of an Aunt and Uncle of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Karst. The bride's beautiful gown was made by her mother and featured off-white Quaina with old fashioned styling. It featured a high neckline, trimmed in lace with a lace inset in bodice and tucks below and beside lace iaset. "Leg-o-Mutton" style sleeves also featured tucks, as did the cuffs. The empire waistline tapered to a gathered skirt. The veil was attached to a lace cap and gathered at the back, falling in four fingertip tiers, trimmed in lace that matched mat-ched the cap and inset on dress. The veil was also made by the bride's mother. The bouquet consisted of a large nosegay of white roses, stephanotis, and baby breath. Attending the bride as Matron of Honor was Mrs. Johnny (Patricia) Guffey, and Misses Ynez and Gussie Serrano, sisters of the groom, as bridesmaids. Attendants wore gowns of shimmering mint green, featuring high necklines and long sleeves, and carried bouquets of leaves of different dif-ferent colors and sizes and scattered stephanotis and MR. AND MRS. GERALD E. SERRANO baby breath. Standing as best man for the groom, was long-time friend, Jerry Quintana, Ushers were brothers of the bride, Johnny and Scott Guffey. The bride's mother wore a rust-colored dress, styled with a cowl neck, long sleeves, and belted waistline. The mother of the groom also wore a rust-colored rust-colored gown, but styled in a print pattern with a high neck and over-blouse. Both mothers had white roses and Stephanotis. Sheri wore a maroon pantsuit with a pink blouse as a going away costume, also made by her mother. The newlyweds honeymooned a week, sightseeing in California. The bride's Aunt, Mrs. Isaac (Jan) Perez, gave a shower for Sheri prior to the wedding. wed-ding. Sheri graduated from Parowan High School where she was a four-year cheerleader. She attended Dixie College and has been living in Bellflower, California. The groom graduated from Santa Rose High School, New Mexico, and attended Highlands University at Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he lettered in Basketball. |
