Show Full slate in Cedar At 6:00 a.m. Tuesday the annual July Forth Celebration will begin in Cedar City with a "Good Morning Salute" by the Fire Department. From then on a full days activities are planned by the Cedar City Lions Club. The day will be capped off with Fireworks at the Flood Control area south of Cedar City at 9:30 p.m. Scheduled for 9:00 a. m. is a parade sponsored by the Lady Lions and a flag ceremony will follow the parade in the city park. Concessions will open at the park at 9:30 a. m. Concessions will include snow cones, ballons, cotton candy, varous foods, dunking tank, and novelties, inducing a fipincluding a fish pond, dart game, basketball toss and ring toss. At 10:15 a. m. the Cedar City Community Band will give their second public concert in the park, under the direction of Joseph Lamoureaux. Childrens games and foot races will be conducted at 11:15 a. m. According to Bruce Osborne, general chairman of the day's activities ac-tivities all proceeds will be used by the Lions Club in community projects. "An Old Fashioned Summer" is the theme chosen by the Lady Lions for the Independence Day Parade to be staged Tuesday, July 4. The parade beginsat9:30a.m. and will assemble at the Safeway parking lot. The selection of the parade royalty was made by drawing. Hollie Jo Slack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Slack was selected as queen and the , king will be Tracy Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Peterson. Floats must be registered by 9 a.m. and the representatives for the marching groups are requested to register their group by 9 a.m. All little people who are riding bikes and trikes must be registered at 9:15 a.m. The Lady Lions still have some float bases for rent. The rental fee is $3.00. So come on all you people, organize your neighborhoods or businesses and enter a float in the parade. Call 586-3432 586-3432 or 586-9370 to rent a base. Prizes will be given for the best floats and the children will love riding on them. The drawing for this year's Royalty was done by Becky Robinson and Alan Dunaway, royalty from last year's parade. |
