Show Pa rowan program readied farowan City is planning a full slate of activities for the 4th of July celebratin this coming Tuesday. Chairman of the day's activities is John Lovric. The day will begin with the traditional sunrise salute under the direction of Mike and Delance Terry. Then, at 7 a. m. a delicious pancake breakfast will be served by the Parowan First Ward. The breakfast will be held on the East lawn of the church. Menu will include sourdough hotcakes, ham, eggs, orange drink and milk. Serving will continue until parade time. Breakfast is sponsored by the Scouts of the First Ward and everyone is invited and asked to bring their own utensils. The Parade will begin promptly at 9:30 a. m. Participants are asked to meet at the Iron County County Courthouse; the parade will begin there, go past the Iron County Rest Home for the benefit of the people there who might otherwise have to miss it, and then continue on down main street. Anyone desiring to participate in the parade is urged to do so. Children are encouraged to decorate bikes and tricycles and join the parade. At 10:15 a. m. a patriotic program will be presented with music by a community choir, and the presentation presen-tation of Nicole Adams and Blair Bentley as the Goddess of Liberty and Uncle Sam. At 11:30 the Parowan Volunteer Fire Department will be in charge of games on the church square for young and old. 2:30 p. m. is post time for the Red Hill Wrangler's 26th Annual Race Meet at the Parowan track. Horsemen Hor-semen are invited to enter their horses tonight, Thursday, June 29, at 7 p. m. at the Parowan Race Track. Trophies will be awarded to the leading jockey and trainer, with winners decided on a point system. A blanket will also be awarded to the winner of the feature race. In the evening, about dusk, the Parowan Volunteer Fire Department, under the direction of Fire Chief Albert Orton, will present a beautiful fireworks display at the race track. Chief Orton wishes to thank all who have contributed to help make the fireworks a success and urges everyone to attend. Bring your whole family and enjoy the 4th of July celebration in Parowan. |
