Show Geothermal units offered for competitive bids by BLM Eighteen leasing units, totaling 36,955.96 acres, in known geothermal resources areas (KGRAs) in Beaver, Iron, Juab and Sevier counties have been offered by the Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management for competitive bids. According to Paul L. Howard, BLM state director for Utah, the sealed bids must be received by the Bureau before February 3, at 10 a.m., at which time they will be opened in room 7102 of the Salt Lake Federal Building: Six of the units being offered are in the Crater Springs KGRA of Juab County, two are in the Lund KGRA of Iron County, three are in the Monroe-Joseph KGRA of Sevier County and seven are in the Thermo KGRA of Beaver County. The units vary in size from 1,200.58 to 2,582.88 acres. Bids submitted will be offers of bonuses, and the lease will be issued to high bidders who meet specific qualifications. Mr. Howard noted that successful suc-cessful bidders will pay, in addition ad-dition to their bonuses, rental for use of the lands and royalties on the value of steam or any other form of heat, or energy derived from production.
