Show Roberta B. Rowley, Church, Civic leader dies; honored at services Funeral services for Roberta Benson Rowley were held December 31 in the Parowan Third LDS Ward Chapel at 2 p.m. Bishop Boyd Mitchell officiated of-ficiated at the services which consisted of a musical selection, "The Lords Prayer" by the Third Ward Choir, a vocal solo, "A Perfect Day" by Verl Taylor, accompanied by Vyonne Chamberlain; speeches by,, LaMar Jensen and Donald Cartwright with remarks being made by Bishop Mitchell. The family prayer was offered by Dr. Carlson Terry, the invocation in-vocation by Bishop Nelson Taylor, the benediction by Karl Mitchell, and the dedication of the ward genalogical committee. She and her husband were called as ordinance workers in the St. George Temple and was serving in that capacity at the time of her death. Mrs. Rowley was also active in civic affairs. She served as president of the Parowan PTA, two terms as president of the local American Legion Auxiliary and one term as district president. She was very active in the Republican party, in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and various other clubs. She is survived by her eight children: Mrs. Waldo (Afton) Topham, Cedar City; Mr. Robert A. Rowley, Parowan; Mr. Doyle B. Rowley, Monticello; Mrs. Carlson (Claire Dale) Terry, Murray; Mrs. Austin Rowley, Holladay; Mr. Rodney Rowley, Redlands, Calif.; Mr. Donald B. Rowley, Salt Lake; and Mr. Douglas B. Rowley, Salt Lake. She is also survived by a brother, Clifford Benson of Toppenish, Washington; 35 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery. ROBERTA B. ROWLEY the grave by Rodney Rowley. Grandsons, Kyle Terry, Kurt Rowley, Brady Topham, Russell Rowley, Eric Rowley, and Russell J. Rowley were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Topham, Guy Rowley, Richard Rowley, Robert Rowley and Paul Terry. Prelude and Postlude music was played by Vyonne Chamberlain Cham-berlain and the flowers were taken care of by Mrs. Rowley's granddaughters. Mrs. Rowley died December 29 in the Dixie Hospital in St. George of Kidney failure. Born at Paro,wan July 14, 1903, she was the 10th and last child of Alvin Benson and Elizabeth Ellen Orton. She married W, Clair Rowley in the St. George Temple May 3, 1922 and they made their home in Parowan where he was Iron County Clerk for many years. He served as president of the Parowan Stake as well as in many other Church and civic positions. He preceded his wife in death on April 2, 1973. Mrs. Rowley served in and held major positions in all the LDS Church organizations. Among these were 25 years in the Primary Association where she served as Stake Primary President, Ward Primary President, chorister and teacher. : ) In the Relief Society she was a counselor to the stake relief society president, chorister, class leader, and director of the "Singing Mothers.
