Show SUSC to host quadrangle mat meet After a two week layoff for the holidays the Southern Utah State wrestling team returns to the mat on Saturday to host the SUSC Quadrangular. Action gets underway at 10:30 a. m. in War Memorial Fieldhouse. In first round matches SUSC will meet College of Eastern Utah and Weber State faces Ft. Lewis. Through the day each team will face the other at least once. The T-Bird matmen ended the 1975 poriton of their schedule with a 26-5 defeat to Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Both Ft. Lewis and Weber State beat the T-Birds twice last year. Ft. Lewis comes into the match with a 1-1 record. The Raiders have defeated Ft. Hays State 19-17 19-17 and lost to NAU 24-13. Top wrestler for the Raiders is Tony Petit (158-67), defending RMAC Champion, who has won the Western State Invitational this season. Weber State comes in with a 0-1 mark, losing to a tough Idaho State team 22-9. v Mike Isom (118) and Bill Murphy (126) lead the way for the Wildcats. Both have 6-1 records, while Murphy claimed the Beehive championship and was named most valuable wrestler of the tournament. The T-Birds hit the road next week as they travel to Grand Junction and Gunnison to face Mesa and Western State. |
