Show Artist draws Historical sketches of Beaver County on calendar theatre performances and art exhibits during the bicentennial year. The calendar has been produced on a one-time basis and will not be reprinted. The artist is a native of Salt Lake City who studied at the University of Utah and Westminster West-minster College in Salt Lake City, with a degree in drawing and painting. She has also spent 10 years actively engaged in professional graphic design. Her Artist in School residency in Beaver County is the result of a grant from the National Endowment En-dowment of the Arts in cooperation with the Utah State Division of Fine Arts and the Beaver County School District. The program in Beaver County has been recognized nationally and is being used throughout the country as a model for other Artist in School programs throughout the nation. A calendar of significant historical value is being made available by the Beaver County Civic Arts Council. The Calendars, created by Patricia E. Smith of Salt Lake City, an Artist in School participant par-ticipant in Beaver County School District, featured her professional sketches, in ink, of 12 historical buildings in Beaver County. Each sketch is accompanied ac-companied by a poetic description produced by students of the Miners ville Elementary School where Ms. Smith has been assigned for the past three months. Buildings of interest to residents throughout the southern Utah area are included for each month of the year and each is so designed that it can be framed and preserved.
