Steve Hodson, exciting Junior Guard for the SUSC T-Birds was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Color Country Basketball Classic staged last Monday and Tuesday by SUSC. Hodson graduated from Orem High School where he was a regular, then played for two years at Utah Technical College at Provo before transferring tran-sferring to SUSC this season. TEAM CROWN. Bernie Leavitt, team captain accepts championship trophy from Dr. Bruce Osborne, athletic director at SUSC. T-Birds downed Claremont College 114 to 80 in opening round of Classic Monday evening then came back to down a determined crew from Redlands University by a score of 94-83 for the Championship. T-Birds T-Birds built up a big lead in the second half, only to have Redlands run off 14 straight points to pull within four points in the waning moments of the game. The T-Birds hit nine straight foul shots in the final action to pull away for the championship. |
