Show Geology Teacher Selected For Special Training Laurence C. Cooper, geology teacher at College of Southern Utah in Cedar City, has been selected for special training in earth sciences. He will be one of 30 college faculty members from 22 states to attend the Short Course in Earth Sciences at the Southwest Center for Advanced Ad-vanced Studies in Dallas, Aug. 7-25. Objective of the training is to acquaint teachers with recent re-cent advances made in understanding under-standing of Earth structure through geophysical and geo-chemical geo-chemical techniques. Support for the course is from the National Science Foundation. Faculty for the special program pro-gram will be drawn from the Southwest Center's Geosci-ences Geosci-ences Division, which is headed head-ed by Prof. Anton L. Hales. Southwest Center for Advanced Ad-vanced Studies is 'a private post-doctoral study and research re-search center, founded in 1961, which co-operates with other universities in the advancement ad-vancement of science education. |
