Show Websters Take Big League Lead I Won Lost Pet. Webster 6 0 1.00U Milne 4 2 .667 Kiwanis 3 3 .500 Rotary 1 4 .200 Coleman 0 5 .000 Webster Coal picked up three victories during the past week to push out to a good lead in the American Little League baseball race. - One of the victories came via the forfeit route when they were trailing cellar ridden rid-den Coleman 5 to 2. Coleman, however, used an ineligible pitcher and Webster was awarded the game. In other victories Webster defeated Coleman 12 to 4 behind be-hind the pitching of Paul Savage Sav-age and Lindsay Whitehead and a home run by Chris Freeman. On the mound for Coleman in the loss was Lee Holmes. Tuesday evening, Webster came - from behind, scoring eight runs in the fifth frame to defeat Rotary by a score of 14 to 7. Rotary held a 7 to 6 lead at the end of four and one-half innings of play. Each team sent three pitchers to the mound in the contest. Craig Rollo, Joe Hoyt, and Kay Nelson all saw action for Rotary while Paul Savage, Lindsay Whitehead, and Ron nie Adams shared duty for Webster. Milne stayed in second place with a pair of victories during the week. They defeated de-feated Kiwanis 5 to 2, early in the action putting together a big third inning to push in three runs to take a lead they never relinquished. Clair Milne and Del Flanigan were on the mound for the winners and Calvin Sorenson and Dale Orton saw action for Kiwanis. Milne also squeeked out a slim 7 to 6 victory over Coleman Cole-man Monday night in a seesaw see-saw battle that saw the lead change hands on three different dif-ferent occasions. Dave Kan-osh, Kan-osh, Clair Milne, and Del Flanigan were on the mound for the winners, while Steven Stoker and Lee Holmes shared the loss. In other action of the week, Kiwanis came from behind with one run in the bottom of the sixth inning to snatch a 6 to 5 victory over Rotary. Steven Hafen, in for only one inning for Kiwanis, picked up his third victory of the season in relief of Dale Orton. Reliefer Re-liefer Billy Heyborne suffered the loss. Craig Rollo was on the mound for Rotary through five innings of play. |
