Show Local Youth Problems Discussed with City Youth Council Kerry Jones, chairman of the Cedar City Coordinating Council Central Committee and Mrs. Dee G. Cowan, Iron County 4-H Club representative, were special guests at the meeting last week of the Youth Council. Jones invited the Youth Council Coun-cil to prepare a presentation of the committee for presentation later this month at a general meeting of the Coordinating Council. The Youth Council was asked to prepare a report on activities ac-tivities of the past year and to advance plans for the coming year. The need for planning with merchants of the community to curtail the problem of shoplifting shoplift-ing was also projected and the Council reported that extensive efforts had begun by the group with planning with Juvenil Judge Bossard and with Tony Lambert, security officer at College of Southern Utah. Mrs. Cowan reported re-ported to the Council that she had been appointed by the Iron County Coun-ty Extension agent to represent Cedar City 4-H Clubs at a youth citizenship conference that is being be-ing held in Los Angeles this month. Mrs. Bert Carpenter of the Cedar Ce-dar City Business and Professional Profession-al Women's Club was present and outlined in detail a project that the BPW Club is planning to carry car-ry on for youth of the area. On April 2, she indicated the BPW will sponsor a youth conference in Cedar City with a theme of "Economics Underline a Healthy Community." The BPW clubs of neighboring towns will be invited invit-ed to attend, along with some of the youth and members of the Neighborhood Youth Corps. j |
