Show Region Eight Tourney In St. George To Decided Third Place A Region Eight champion and a third entry to the State Class B tournament will be determined Friday and Saturday night at St. George in the Region Eight basketball tournament. Four teams, two from each division di-vision of the region, will be vying vy-ing for a berth in the state classic clas-sic in action Friday and Saturday night with the region championship champion-ship to also be determined Saturday Sa-turday when Cedar and Delta meet. , Cedar and Delta, winners of the souther and northern divisions, respectively, have already .won berths in the state tournament. In their meeting Saturday in the finale of the tournament they will determine the Region Eight championship and also determine seedings for the state event which opens in Provo at the BYU Field-house Field-house on Wednesday, Mar. 16. In the southern division Dixie and Enterprise tied for second place honors. In the northern division di-vision there was also a tie for second between Parowan and Millard High Schools. Friday night in the opening game Parowan Rams and Dixie Flyers will clash, beginning at 7 p. m. followed by the Enterprise Enter-prise Wolves and Millard Eagles. Winners of the Friday night games will meet Saturday for third place in the region and a state tournament berth. That will be preceded by the Redmen and Delta clash for the championship cham-pionship at 7 p. m. In the event of a win by both Enterprise and Dixie Saturday night's games will be shifted to Cedar City. The three representatives of the region will then prepare for the finale of the season when they and 13 other teams from throughout through-out the state will meet in Provo for the State Class B title. Games Friday and Saturday are set for 7 and 8:30 p. m. |
