Show Iron County Soil Conservation District Is Commended by State and National Agencies Iron County Soil Conservation Di-Jtrict has received commendation commenda-tion this past week from both the State Conservationist, J. A. Libby, and by Orville J. Freeman, Secretary Secre-tary of Agriculture in Washington. Washing-ton. The letter of commendation from Secretary Freeman read as follows: "I want to commend the governing gov-erning body of your District for their progressive acti.-n in updating up-dating the soil and wa.'i r conservation conser-vation program and modernizing the memorandum of understanding understand-ing with the U. S. Department of Agriculture. This is an important initial step in helping private landowners move forward more effectively with their resource conservation and development ef. fort. "The district movement has gained enormous strength over the past quarter century because you and other dedicated men have freely given of your time, energy, and imagination in the finest tradition of democratic action ac-tion and self government. "We are on the threshold of a new era in the management of our resources of land and water, wa-ter, forest and wildlife by our people. I am convinced that your District has an important part to play In giving reality to our broadened concepts of conservation conserva-tion and rural areas development. develop-ment. I urge you to push for-, for-, ward in every way you can conceive con-ceive to achieve maximum advancement ad-vancement in the conservation and economic development of our soil and water resources within your District. "I assure you of the Department's Depart-ment's readiness to cooperate with you to tho full extent of its ability." Libby, in his letter of commendation, com-mendation, conveyed further comments from Don A. Williams, j Administrator of the Soil Con- servation Sfrvice as well as pledging support of the expanding expand-ing program i.i Iron County during dur-ing the coming y?ar. |
