Show Chloeen Callister Receives Coveted Award CHLOEEN CALLISTER Chloeen Callister, Delta, was named recipient for the Mildred I. Sargent Womanhood Award at the awards and convocations service; at College of Southern Utah Sunday. Given on the basis of character, charac-ter, modest leadership, loyalty, other personal attributes, the award recognizes each year a student who has typified the Ideal college girl at CSU. After the candidates were named by the faculty, the family of Prof. D. L. Sargent, professor emeritus, selected the recipient Chloeen has been president of the Associated Women Students. She has participated in a num-berof num-berof school programs; in the fall she was selected a candidate for homecoming queen. Besides her extra-curricular work, she has carried top grades In her classes. One of a family of 16 children, Chloeen has partially partial-ly worked her way through two years of school. A teaching asststantshlp to aid a student while he teaches a lower division class was given to Cary Grant, New Harmony. The sward was made by Director Royden C. Bralthwalte. Scholarships were awarded by other universities. Recipients for the Utah State University awards were Clark Davis, Antimony; Floyd Roberts, Beaver; Kent Av-erett. Av-erett. Heber; Doris Williamson. Moab, and Cleve Esplln, Mt. Car. mel. Receiving scholarships to Unl-verslty Unl-verslty of Utah were Jennie Sue Smith, Mllford; Robert Hill, Gun-nlson; Gun-nlson; Gerald Burt Robinson, Cunnison; Eugene Secrist, Bountiful; Boun-tiful; Wesley Bryant, Cedar City, and Steve Carpenter, Kanab. Jerry Frame received the schol. arship to Brlgham Young University. Univer-sity. Presiding at the convocation services was Prof. A. W. Stephen-son. Stephen-son. chairman of the scholarship and awards committee. L. N. Marsden, member of the Board of Trustees, addressed parents, friends and recipients of a number num-ber of awards donated by local businesses and Individuals. |
