Show LWV Observes World Trade Week in Cedar World Trade Week which began be-gan May 19,-vill be celebrated in Cedar City by the League of Women Voters. The week has been proclaimed by President Dwight D. Elsenhower. How important is world trade? According to the league "It is as important to the United States as employment is to the people of this counry. By trading with other countries we furnish them with a market for their products and find a market for our own. Many products are imported as raw materials and exported as finished products, furnishing employment em-ployment here, and when shipped ship-ped abroad, bring money back to the U. S." The league representatives also al-so explained that "Through con-tact con-tact with other countries, by the trade route, our government can develop policies which may serve to demonstrate that the peace of free men is a peace of vitality and endurance. "The U. S. Government, by share "interest understanding, and economic security with the countries that might otherwise be doomed to Communistic control con-trol and restriction."
