Show ' Cedar High School Redmen Nine Wins Coveted State Class B Championship The State Class B baseball championship was bestowed bestow-ed on the Cedar City High School Redmen Tuesday afternoon after-noon after they had convincingly downed North Sevier High School. 13 to 0 in the championship clash The game was played on the Cedar baseball field and was witnessed by several hundred students and fans. - Ray Endsley took the spotlight for the afternoon in an outstanding three-hit performance and shut out the North Sevier crew. His mound performance was outstanding outstand-ing and could be magnified In that he pitched a six hitter against BY High School In the state aeml-flnal clash to move the Redmen into title contention. Not to be overshadowed Is the hitting prowess of. the Redmen who put the game virtually on Ice In the botom half of the first inning with an eight run spree. Highlight was the scoring of a grand slam home run by Don Robinson, slight left fielder for the Redmen. After the Redmen had retlreJ the visitors In order In the top half of the first frame Coach Bruce Decker's nine went to work and pounded two pitchers for five hits and eight runs. Errors and walks were costly, however for North Sevier. Reed ley wood walked and was advanced ad-vanced to third on two successive succes-sive erors. This left the bases loaded and no outs. The first run was walked in and after a single out Robinson blasted a drive between center and right field to clear the bases. Four more runs crossed the plate before be-fore the inning was ended with a double by Phil Yergensen and a triple by Endsley. The Redmen added three more runs in the second frame with as many hits and wrote finish ti the game with two more counters in the fifth. Endsley pitched a perfect per-fect game for the first four innings in-nings allowing his first hit In the fifth frame. Showing superb form his curve ball was his most effective ef-fective pitch. In the fourth frame he compiled three strikeouts, without benefit of a called strike from the umpire. Reed Heywood picked up the first hit for the Redmen in the fourth inning and was the first man to get on base for the Red-men. Red-men. Jon Isom went down swinging swing-ing and with two away Bevan Corry doubled, the oniv extra base hit of the game, to score Gardner. The inning ended when Nell Petty fouled out to the catcher. In the crucial seventh with the score tied at one-all Nelson open, ed the inning with a walk.
