Show PARAGONAH NEWS NOTES By Nora Lund Miss Helen Stones' first and second grades and Mrs. Emma Dalton's third, fourth and fifth grades of the elementary school, assisted by the music director, Mrs. Melva Barton, put on their close of school program before a large audience of parents and friends on Friday evening. The May festival theme was carried out In song and dance. LaRae Lamoreaux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Lamoreaux, was crowned queen of the May. Danny Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Barton, was master of ceremonies. The May pole was artistically braided by both groups. Chester Benson's sixth, seventh and eighth grades staged their program on Monday evening where the following graduated from the Paragonah Elementary school preparatory to entering Parowan High School next fall: Charles Boardman, Ruth Ann Dalton, Connie Dunton, Douglas Evans, J. B. Jones, Charles Murie, Val Robb, Jimmie Lamoreaux, Stephen Toph;im and Larry Lee Lister. The variety program of skits, songs and a short play was much enjoyed by those In attendance. Wednesday afternoon of last week Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Top- ham went to Beaver 10 witness a colorful dance revue In which their granddaughters, Nlckl and Karla Bradshaw, participated. Mrs. Miriam Anderson was their guest for the trip where she en-Joyed en-Joyed seeing her grandchildren, Jerry and Lorraine Limb and Jimmy Lowe perform. Joyce Dun-ton Dun-ton Boyter's daughters Ellen and Janet and Carol D. Farnsworth's daughter, Marie, also took part. Billy Edwards and his mother, Mis. Olive Edwards left Monday for Salt Lake City where Bill will seek employment and Mrs. Ed. wards will visit her children. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lund were happy to have their son Norman home for 13 day's leae from Ford Ord, Calif, where he is stationed In the Army He returned re-turned to Fort Ord where he will enter a machinist's school for special training along that line. His wife, the former Karen Walker Walk-er of Cedar City, went back to California to be near her husband. hus-band. Our townspeople are happy to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Edwards Ed-wards back home after an absence ab-sence of 13 years spent in West-wood, West-wood, Lasen County, Calif. Mr. Edwards has had employment In the lumber Industry there. Those attending the High Priests' social In Summit Wednesday Wed-nesday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Robb, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Leonard Topham and Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Edwards and Mrs. Chester Robinson accompanied ac-companied Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson and their three sons to the St. George Temple Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Justin Fairbanks and child were here for the week end with Mrs. Fairbanks' parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Talbot. Tal-bot. Mr and Mrs. Jimmie Anderson moved to Provo Sunday where they will make a home for the present. Jimmie Is employed with the telephone company. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jones are grandparents to the third girl which came to gladden the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvln Jones of Cedar City oa May 1. Mr. and Mra Wurrt MortenRen of Paro- wan are the other grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Robinon and Ada are most happy to have as their guests for a week. Mr. and Mrs. George Ganung of East Lansing, Mich. Mrs. Ganung is the former Anna Robinson. The couple are also visiting the Joe Lamoreau family here and wU spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Elwln Talbot and Mrs. By. ron Robinson and their families in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Doyle Topham of Delta came last week end and took her mother-in-law. Mrs. Berth Top. ham and brother-in-law LaNell Topham to Delta to spend Sun-day. Sun-day. Ivar: Topham and family brought his folks home early Monday. The Primary officers and teachers attended the stake preparation prep-aration meeting In Parowan on Thursday evening. I Mrs. Carmen Topham assisted with the bloodmoblle visit In Parowan on Thursday. Quite a number from here gave blood to the worthy cause. A large group attended the meeting of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers held Thursday at the home of Mrs. Bertha Topham. Top-ham. Visitors at the meeting were Mrs. Jane Gale and Mrs. Martha Gale of Beaver, and Mrs. Mary Goddard of Cedar City. Mrs. Martha Gale read the history his-tory of her grandfather, pioneer Robert Talbot. Mrs. Ethel Robb1 read the history of her grandfather, grandfa-ther, John Prothoro, who was one of the first settlers of Paragonah, Mrs. Iris Jones received word Friday of the birth of a new granddaughter on May 17. This makes two girls and a boy for the Dale Gordons of Victor, Idaho. Ida-ho. Mrs. Gordon is tne former Ja-vine Ja-vine Smith of Paragonah Mrs. Gertrude Barton of Cedar City and March Barton of Glen Canyon visited with the Ted Bartons Bar-tons on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Hemingway of Salt Lake City visited over the past week end with their cousins, the James H. Anderson family. Miss Virginia Ashdown of Beaver Bea-ver spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. Grant Jones and family. Also Al-so spending the week end with heir mother, Mrs. Jones, was Dale Smith of Provo'and Warren Smith, a C S U student of Cedar City. - M'ss Mary McMillan of Cedar City, county school supervisor, was In attendance for the school program on Friday evening. j Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Limb and family of Beaver visited Saturday Satur-day evening with the James Andersons. An-dersons. I A large number of our ward members attended the Parowan Stake Social Saturday evening In Parowan. Paragonah people who went to Parowan Monday evening to see the Cedar Third Ward play, "A Voice As Thunder," were high In their praise of its rendition. Mrs. Chester Robinson was tak-en tak-en to the Iron County Hospital late Saturday evening for treat ment for a kidney ailment. II. B. Robinson was able to leave the Iron County Hospital on Wednesday, and is resting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wal-lace Wal-lace Osborne, In Cedar City. Mike Lamoreaux, Dean Robinson Robin-son and Dale Bettridge Joined other F F A boys of the Parowan High School chapter for a week end outdoors camping trip !n the hills northwest of Paragonah. The mode of transportation was saddle sad-dle horses. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Prothero and Mrs. Amy Prothero attended attend-ed a wedding reception in Mil-ford Mil-ford Saturday night for Mr. and Mrs. John CBasky Mrs. O'Basky is the former Miss Norma Reese, a cousin of Mrs. Lewis Prothero.
