Show LITTLE, PONY LEAGUES TO OPEN MONDAY Little and Pony League baseball will open their respective respec-tive seasons Monday afternoon at the local ball park. Th event will be kicked off with a parade of all participants down Cedar City's Main Street at 4:30 p. m. The players will assemble at the Knell Motel corner on South Main and parade North to the ball parks where Columbia Co-lumbia and Rotary of the Little League will play the first game at 5:00 p. m. At 7:30 p. m. on the Pony League Park the Southern Utah Power and Utah Construction teams will meet In the season's opener for this league. Games will continue each evening of the week according to Tom Brockmeier, president of the Little League, and Dan Lindsay, president of the Pony League. Six teams will compete in the Little League program and four in the Pony League. The six Litle League teams Include Klwanls, Rotary. Lions, Milne, Elks, and Columbia Iron Mines. Utah Construction Co.. Utah Parks Co., Arden Dairy and Southern Utah Power eCo. are sponsors in the Pony League program. At the end of the season both of the organized leagues will sponsor area tournaments in the annual tournament play. Volunteer umpires will be on hand for the games each evening and officials of the program will conduct the actlv-Ities actlv-Ities throughout the season. No admission charges are made to the games; however, contributions to help defray league expenses will be appreciated. In Little League Kiwanis and Milne meet on Tuesday, and Wednesday's game pits the Lions against the Elks. Tuesday, Parks meets Arden In the Pony League program. |
